Last Sunday the Reading Small Boats Head Race took place on a 3,300 metre course from below Mapledurham to Caversham Bridge on a part of the river with several bends and narrow channels between islands.
Henley entered several junior crews and came away with wins in three categories.

The Boston Rowing Marathon took place last Sunday. It is an annual head of the river race on a 31 mile/50 kilometre course on the river Witham from Lincoln to Boston. The race attracts in excess of 200 entries, covering the complete spectrum of the rowing community from the highly competitive to the more recreational crews.There is one lock on the course at Bardney, where competitors have to disembark and carry their boats in a 50 metre dash to continue the race on the far side of the lock.

Henley Rowing Club had another successful weekend on the water winning the £750 prize for most successful club at Henley Town and Visitors Regatta. The presentation of the cheque to club chairman Nigel Read was the final formality of the day which saw HRC win a total of five events outright and two events as part of composite crews.

Henleys Thames Cup crew had a good run to the final but despite a good fight the strong head wind gave the advantage to the 2 stone per man heavier Molesey crew who won by a length and a half. |

Following selection trials that started back in October of last year Pippa Whittaker has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Coup de la Jeunesse which will be held in Vichy at the end of this month |

Egham regatta which celebrated its centenary last Sunday played host to a number of Henley rowing club juniors.
Held in near perfect conditions the S shaped 650 metre upstream course provided its usual side by side racing drama with collisions, capsizes and closely fought races. In the 1st division the J14 boys Quad of Harry Chapman, Jack Roe, Ben Lock, Seb Opalinski and Emily Barrett as cox defeated the B crew from Windsor Boys School before succumbing by 1/2 length to the A crew from the same school.
