Last Saturday the Henley Sculling Head took place on a 3,000 metre course from Henley Business School at Greenlands to the Royal Regatta finish with Henley Rowing Club dominating Quadruple Sculls by winning 5 categories in Division 1. Dan Marett, Mike Ewing, George Laughton and Rich Francis were Head of the River recording the fastest time of 10.34 minutes for the whole event in Elite Quad Sculls.
The Womens Junior 15 squad started their season with wins at Reading and Upper Thames and were out for their third win in a row and they were not disappointed. The WJ15 Quad of Maddie Wynn Jones, Abegail Roels, Mollie Thorpe, Alice White and Didi Wade coxing put in another strong peformance to beat their old rivals from Lady Eleanor Holles School by 20 seconds.
The second quad of KateTillotson, Millie Marsh, Gaby Wicks, Abbie Saddler with Emma Salah coxing had a good start and strong first third of the race, the pressure going off slightly in the middle of the race but they managed to put in a gutsy finish to achieve an overall fourth.
This was quickly followed by the WJ15 Double Scull of Jenny Norman and Isobel Pratt who gained an excellent victory by 25 seconds over Weybridge Ladies. Jo Unsworth also put in a fine performance winning WJ15 Single Sculls.
The Junior 14 squad also did very well with wins for the J14 Quad of Will Hayes, Tom Soroka, Andrew Lewis, Malcolm Lindsay and Bradley Ralph as cox and the girls WJ14 Quad consisting of Ruby Cooper, Ella Seabury, Ruby Fletcher, Caitlin Sutherland and Elena Cotton as cox.  |
