Docklands While the Junior squad competed at Weybridge Ladies Regatta, the Men's squad travelled to London to compete in the Docklands Regatta. Contested over 2000m, the Docklands course regularly presents crews with challenging racing conditions, as it is subjected to strong cross head winds. Last weekend was no different, with crews competing in Lane 4 taking the full force of the wind. Five crews from Henley took part in the Regatta, and it was the newly formed Senior 2 Quad of M Bennett, R Coombes, D Read and R Guiver who were triumphant. On their first time competing together they found themselves in a straight final against a composite crew from Rob Roy/Star Club, and St Neots. Joining them at the start was Nottinghamshire County and Commercial Rowing Club, who were competing in the Elite class. Henley achieved a fantastic start in Lane 4, staying level with the two Elite crews, however, by half way they had dropped back to third place. Undeterred, they called on their combined experience, strength and determination to harden on, rowing through Rob Roy/Star Club, and taking the lead. Once past these crews they never looked back, winning Gold convincingly by 2 lengths.
