Upper Thames SBH

Henley Rowing Club has had a very busy and successful couple of weeks
with crews notching up twelve wins in the last two head races and
members performing well in the early trials for selection to the GB
squad. The wins have come from all sections of the Club showing its
strength in depth and from the youngest to the eldest members.

Two weeks ago at the Upper Thames Small Boats Head Henley Rowing Club
had more wins than any other Club in those divisions with more than one
entry.

With no event at their age group the girls under 16
quad of Hannah Read, Natalie Robinson, Kaye Davies and Lucy Lewington
entered the Women's Senior three division, which they won with a
comfortable margin of 16 seconds.

Another young crew to achieve victory
was the girls under15 double of Amanda Moore and Natalie McIntosh with
an 8 second victory over Upper Thames.

One of the most pleasing wins came from the Club's youngest crew
competing, the girls under 14 quad of Ellen Anthony, Emily Derrig, Orla
Millar, Jenny Arnorld and cox Kelly Doward. This was the girls' first
race and they won it comfortably beating their opposition by over 2
minutes. Continuing their run of success were the boys under 14 quad who
have yet to be beaten this crew comprising Chris Clarke, Simon Jones,
Alistair Walker, Peter Wagner and cox Kate Thomas also had a comfortable
win beating crews from Bluecoat School by over 40 seconds. At the other
end of the age spectrum was the winning Veteran E coxless 4 (minimum
average age 55) of Tim Lincoln, Arnie Cook, Mervyn Theaker and John
Stoddard who beat amongst other crews local rivals Upper Thames. Tim
Lincoln and Arnie Cook also won the Vet E double sculls again beating
crews from Upper Thames. Helen Davis and Laura Leondiades of the senior
women's squad won senior 3 double sculls with an 8 second margin over
Vesta Rowing Club.
