Friday night saw the qualifying rounds for Henley Royal Regatta and the Henley Junior Girls quad of Kirsty Holland, Louisa Pickworth, Lucy Mills and Juliet Hookey taking on the top senior women’s crews from this country and overseas for a place in this years new event for women’s quads. The strong head wind did not favour the smaller junior girls who finished fifth overall with only the first two crews qualifying. The girls were not unhappy with their row and were pleased to have finished in the top third of the draw well ahead of a number of the other crews. The Club did have some success in this event, as Miriam Batten racing for Henley in a Henley/Upper Thames composite crew was one of the two crews to qualify.
