Saturday saw eight of the older junior girls racing in women’s events at Reading Town Regatta. In Women’s Senior 3 double sculls Carly Ralph and Fran Compton succeeding in reaching the final but in a strong head wind were unable to raise their rate of striking to beat crews from Reading University and Pangbourne. The main event for the girls though was the Women’s Senior 3 eight’s and in a straight final the crew of Vicky Gilson, Lizzie Mann, Sarah Fellowes, Fran Compton, Carly Ralph, Katharine Boothroyd, Kirsty Scott, Clare Ansley Watson and cox Carrina Parry comfortably beat local rivals Reading Rowing Club by two lengths.
